For this week's #MemberMonday, we're introducing Julian Scholler, our house leader at the East Williamsburg and Downtown Brooklyn houses. Read on for some spot-on recommendations in Williamsburg.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I am Austrian and live in the beautiful and super interesting city of Vienna. Although I love my country, I haven’t spent much time there in the last couple of years because I love to travel! Studying in Brazil, interning in Costa Rica and volunteering in Uganda have been some of my most amazing long-term travels so far.

What do you think of your Outpost Club experience?

Coliving at Outpost is amazing! I love to meet people from all different kinds of countries and backgrounds. Right now I am staying at the East Williamsburg House and we have members from Russia, Japan, the US, France, Italy, Australia and many more. I really appreciate the opportunity to learn about foreign cultures every day and making friends from all over the planet is very easy when you're living together.

Do you have a favorite place in Brooklyn?

My favorite place in Brooklyn is Williamsburg. This neighborhood is packed with small cafés, amazing restaurants and a couple of breathtaking rooftop bars -- and also features some of the best street art in the area. I especially like the rooftop at the William Vale Hotel and a brunch place called Sunday in Brooklyn.

What are you working on now?

I would like to have my own coliving space in Vienna, Austria. So my current mission here in New York City is to look for ideas and inspiration for my own coliving space back home in Austria. New York City is a super trendy city and many highly interesting projects can be found here, not only in the accommodation sector but also in many other shared spaces like public spaces, restaurants or food halls.
