Just about 10 minutes' walk from Outpost's Knickerbocker House is a street bursting with colors.

The walls on every block that line up the Jefferson Street serve as pieces of canvas for a well-known art-movement organization, The Bushwick Collective.

The movement was conceived by Bushwick native Joe Ficalora, and has contributed to the change the neighborhood has seen in the last few years.

On a bright, sun-blessed day, Jefferson Street gives out a celebratory vibe. Almost carnival-like. On a rainy and gloomy day, the vibe turned into one that sucks you in, making you feel like part of the street arts surrounding you.

Jefferson street represents Brooklyn at its core, as the center of arts and cultures. This is why it is Outpost's destination pick for our members, and top of Foursquare's 15 Best Places for Arts in Bushwick.

Tours of the graffiti in this area are very common! Tours of the graffiti in this area are very common!

The theme is also represented in the people living around the area - the artistic community who lives and breathes art; from the way they dress to the things they do for a living.

To some, the reason they moved to New York City.

So go spend a day walking around the area and soaking in the arts that have made Bushwick the center of New York's art scene. Bring your camera along, because every corner offers a sight worth capturing.
