12 Halloween Events to Check Out in New York City

Halloween is nearly here, so get into costume and get ready for the Outpost Club’s Halloween party on Oct. 31 starting at 8 p.m.
We’ll have a pumpkin-carving station for those of you who want to take a (literal) stab at one of our favorite spooky traditions, and a costume contest -- so get ready to strut your stuff! We’ll bring the snacks if you BYOB. RSVP on Facebook.

Explore the nine-room Nightmare Machine experience by the makers of Dream Machine throughout October. The rooms are built to be Instagrammable and the creators say Nightmare Machine is “not a haunted house, but inspired by them.” Admission is $38 and reservations can be made here. Michael Alan Alien’s Dark Side of the Moon

The Library After Hours: Halloween Masquerade
Get your literary costume judged by Tim Gunn and enjoy frightful films, drinks, dancing, a display of the spookiest items from library’s vast collections. A $15 ticket gets you guaranteed entry from 7-8PM and 10-percent off at the bar.

World of Whimsy Halloween Party
There will be burlesque performances, contortionist dancers and fire breathing by The Hive Fire -- along with small bites and themed signature cocktails -- at the Westlight rooftop bar. Tickets start at $70.

Bring back the decade that brought us Britney Spears and the Furby at a throwback dance party. $15 gets you an open vodka bar from 9 p.m.-10 p.m.

80s GLOW at Sunday in Brooklyn
If you’re a fan of Netflix’s show about a group of female wrestlers in the ‘80s, head to Sunday in Brooklyn on Halloween for neon face painting, tattoo artists, impersonators, neon robots, break-dancers and more. $55 include snacks and two drinks. No list would be complete without mentioning the Village Halloween Parade, now entering its 45th year. The costumed public is welcome to participate in one of the largest shows of Halloween creativity in the U.S. every year, so get your costume ready and get more information here.
